I am currently offering some introductory workshops through the Winter season.
"Taking Control of Your Photography."
If you have purchased a camera and are currently confortable with its auto settings, it's time to think about taking more control of your picture taking. Getting the camera off its auto settings gives you, the photographer, much more creative control.
This 3 hour workshop will cover the following important photographic concepts:
- Aperture
Demystify f/stops; why & when would you change them
- Shutter Speed
Get an understanding of when you need to select short or longer shutter speeds and how this effects your photo
- ISO
Learn what effect changing the ISO values will have on your photos and learning when/why you would change ISO values
- Elements of Composition
Explore some of the key principles of good photographic composition
How to apply those principles when you are taking photographs
A portion of the workshop will be conducted in an easy conversational manner, where the concepts described above will be discussed. A series of notes/handouts will be given to each participant.
Following the discussion phase, we will then proceed with our cameras into the photo excursion phase of the workshop, where you will get to put the theory into practice and gain some hands-on experience in a supportive group setting.
I believe that my background in education (I retired from the classroom after 33 years of teaching a variety of grade levels including adults) and the current work that I do training teachers on new technology provides me with a good understanding of how people learn.
I also feel that my teaching experience will help to ensure that you have both an enjoyable and productive learning experience.
